Quote of the day:"When great changes occur in history, when great principles are involved, as a rule the majority are wrong" Eugene V. Debs

Thought of the day:
I like romantic things, a slow dance, a candle lit dinner, walking hand in hand. All these things with the right person all the money in the world could not buy. But one "romantic" thing I don't much see the appeal of is sex on the beach. Sure I see it as a beautiful place to walk on a moonlit night or to watch the sun rise or set. But beyond that it just seems like a good recipe toget sand places you don't want it.

12-28-04

Quote of the day:
"He who loves the more is the inferior and must suffer" Thomas Mann

Thought of the day:
If heaven and hell do exist, I'm sure Johnny Cash is in heaven, but you know
damn well every so often does a concert for those in hell.

12-27-04

Quote of the day:
"Self-love seems so often unrequited" Anthony Powell

Thought of the day:
I think the biggest problem is most people don't know what they want from
life. While those that do, don't know how to get what they want. We all end up
victims of others indecision.

12-26-04

Quote of the day:
"Love built on beauty, soon as beauty, dies" John Donne

Thought of the day:
I think if we asked our friends, family, lover, etc., to write a description
of us, It would be quit surprising. I don't know exactly how people perceive
me, but even my best guess I'm sure would be way off. Really even if I asked
for such a description, I could honestly question how sugar coated it was.

12-25-04

Quotes of the day:
"A man who was completely innocent, offered himself as a sacrifice for the
good of others, including his enemies, and became the ransom of the world. It
was a perfect act." Mohandas K. Gandhi
"Jesus was the first socialist, the first to seek a better life for mankind"
Mikhail Gorbachev
"Whether you think Jesus was God or not, you must admit he was a first-rate
political economist" George Bernard Shaw

Thought of the day:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESUS! Yours was a message of peace, love, tolerance,
humility, and so much more.

12-24-04

Quote of the day:
"How many observe Christ's birthday! How few. his precepts! O! 'tis easier to
keep holidays than commandments" Benjamin Franklin

Thought of the day:
You my be expecting a blue Christmas or be praying for a white one. Tonight
you may hang stockings or perhaps even yourself. However you plan on spending
Christmas Eve I hope it's a joyous one despite any hardships. You should know
at the very least you have a friend in silly old me. Perhaps you may not get
what you want for Christmas, but remember like the Stones said, "You can't
always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you get what you need" I
know
this is a pretty dumb thought of the day, but whatever. Merry Christmas
everyone!

Quote of the day:
"Gifts are like hooks" Martial

Thought of the day:
The other day I saw on the news how this little boy wondered off and that
people were looking for him. They eventually found him dead. Then just a few
hours ago I saw on the news how this father & son were killed in a car crash.
Their Christmas presents were scattered by the side of the road. It all breaks
my
heart and suddenly all my problems seem so petty.

12-22-04

Quote of the day:
"He does not believe, that does not live according to his belief" Thomas
Fuller

Thought of the day:
I would honestly love to know how different the numbers are of people who
believe in the bible, compared to those who have actually read it. Nothing
should
be more sacred to a believer then their religion. Yet most people probably
couldn't name all the apostles or list the ten commandments. Easter and
Christmas are the only times you'll find some people in a church. If they really
believed wouldn't they want to know everything they could? Wouldn't they want to
get closer to their god? It seems to me many just want to tell themselves that
they are going to heaven.

12-21-04

Quote of the day:
"I am free of all predudices. I hate every one equally" W.C. Fields

Thought of the day:
Today you'll get no half ass'ed attempt by me to be witty, clever,
intellectual, profound, or what have you. Really I just feel empty and angry
towards the
world and everything in it, especially myself. I'm sick of the bullshit of
life. Nothing seems fair or right like they told me it should be. Everything
seems to be a horrible lie that's gone horribly wrong. Sadly I feel I'm no
better
for recognizing this. I want to burst into flames like the Human Torch,
except to have the fire consume me. If it's right or wrong, I know this feeling
will pass and then return as always. Really I'm a fairly dark person to begin
with and we all have our darker side. I feel perhaps I'm a monster at times or
at
best a fool. At my worst I just think I'm a hypocrite. Hmm...maybe it takes
our darkest night to truly see and appreciate the stars? Then again maybe I
lied about trying to be profound?

12-20-04

Quote of the day:
"Great men are not always wise" Job 32:9

Thought of the day:
I'm not arrogant enough to be self confident, or is it the other way around?

12-19-04

Quote of the day:
"If we were all given by magic the power to read each other's thoughts, I
suppose the first effect would be to dissolve all friendships" Bertrand Russell

Thought of the day:
Christmas has lost it's thrill for me. I'm becoming like my father, where the
holiday is just a pain in the ass. The only bit of joy I have anymore is
getting gifts for my niece and nephews. Maybe Christmas is just for kids, oh and
that Jesus guy too. But for me anything I'd want I could just buy myself either
that or it too expensive or maybe something money can't buy. I doubt I'll
wake up to watch on my 60 inch plasma TV that the war is over on Christmas Day,
but then maybe I haven't been good enough this year.

12-18-04

Quote of the day:
"Martin Luther King is the most notorious liar in the country" J. Edgar
Hoover (again I remind people that my quotes don't always reflect what I
believe, but are more just what I find interesting that someone said)

Thought of the day:
We are sold so many lies in this world and also so many contradictory things.
Women in this country are sold this idea that being beautiful is so important
and yet also sold the idea that they should not be judged by their bodies but
their minds. But with that said every so often I hear how Barbie presents an
unrealistic ideal for young girls. I really want to smack these people in the
head with the He-Man action figures I grew up with. I think it'd be easier for
me to have Barrie's body then He-man's. Lets face it, at least Barbie had a
life to which a person could achieve. Most of the role models I was given as a
child have to not only have a career but also save the world in-between.
Really both Barbie and Clark Kent were reporters, but only Clark had to also
save
the world and maintain a secret identity as well. The sad and also ironic
thing is that Barbie has to prove that she's more then just some dumb blonde.
Despite being a doctor, a lawyer, etc., all people seem to care about is her
measurements. This world never ceases to confuse me!

12-17-04

Quote of the day:
"He alone knows love who loves without hope" Schiller: Don Carlos

Thought of the day:
I think in wanting someone to love you, you lose sight of what it means to
love. It's a selfish thing to want love and thus goes against what it means to
love. But then what do I know of love? Or anything for that matter!

12-16-04

Quote of the day:
"Most people work just hard enough not to get fired and get paid just enough not to quit" George Carlin

Thought of the day:
I wonder what today will hold? I'll go to bed soon, then wake up, and go to work. Today could be just another dull day and probably will. Then again, it may be the best or the worst day of my life. Maybe I'll laugh or maybe I'll cry. Today may just be the day I die. The day could be full of surprises or boring as hell. Only time will tell. Will I remember today even a week from now? It's a shame how meaningless and forgettable most of the days of our lives are

12-15-04

Quote of the day:
"I believe that when I die I shall rot, and nothing of my ego will
survive...But I should scorn to shiver with terror at the thought of my
annihilation.
Happiness is nonetheless true happiness because it must come to an end, nor do
thought and love lose their value because they are not everlasting" Bertrand
Russell

Thought of the day:
I have a few dumb rules I've given myself. I'll only smoke pot if Willie
Nelson passes it to me. I'd marry the girl who tells me the one line from a Neil
Young song. Much like a vampire or the devil, I don't go places uninvited. I
won't pay for a woman, but I won't let a woman pay.(if you don't get that, the
first part is about hookers) Well, I'm sure I have more, but they escape me at
the moment.

12-14-03

Quote of the day:
"Perfect wisdom is unplanned. Perfect living offers no guarantee of a
peaceful death... Learn first how to live. Learn second how not to kill. Learn
third
how to live with death. Learn fourth...how to die" Master Po from orginal Kung
Fu TV series

Thought of the day:
"Someday", is no way to live.

12-13-04

Quote of the day:
"Love is: The only way your life will have meaning" Amanda Jane Pachick

Thought of the day:
It's so hard to learn from your mistakes when you don't know what you did
wrong.

12-12-04

Quote of the day:
"I'm Jerry Springer, may you never be on my show" Jerry Springer

Thought of the day:
My greatest fear is that I'm right. I tend to believe, see, and expect the
worst. I hope for the best and want things to be great, but I just don't buy it.
Experience has taught me other wise.

12-11-04

Quote of the day:
"Do I let the poor suffer, and consign them, as old Friedrich used to say, to statistics and the devil? Well, so does God". H. L. Mencken (this was the first quote I opened to and read today, or is it tonight? Either way I found it interesting.)

Thought of the day:
Is it wrong to pray that the Devil be forgiven?

12-10-04

Quote of the day:
"You can never plan the future by the past" Edmund Burke

Thought of the day:
Perhaps I dwell on the past too much. The things I think I should or should not have said or done. Maybe I should have kissed her, maybe I shouldn't have kissed her. Maybe I should have made an issue of something, maybe I should have let something go. Whatever the issue from the past that haunts me for whatever reason, there is nothing I can do about it. What's done is done andreally I can't be sure what would happen if I could change things in the past. So maybe I should start burning my bridges as they say. Take a flame thrower tothem like some Vietcong village. That isn't to say that I should forget the past and not learn from it, but just realize what's done is done. So with all that in mind the future is wide open. Maybe the hopes and dreams of the past are still there or perhaps new ones will take their place

12-09-04

Quote of the day:
"I didn't want to hurt them, I only wanted to kill them." David Berkowitz

Thought of the day:
People are animals too. I'd like a shirt that says that, with maybe Jeffery
Dalmer on it.

12-08-04

Quote of the day :"My whole life is a High Note!" Deana Big M - little "organ"

Thought of the day: I don't get this macho thought that every man's dream job is to be a gynecologist. I'm guessing unless your working for perfectly healthy models, you're going to end up seeing things no man wants to see. It's got to be a bit like being a heath inspector who loves go to restaurants. Either way eating out just can't be the same. But hey women have thoughts that are just as dumb. Look what some women did in their fight for equality. In order to show men that they wanted to be treated as equals and not as sex objects, they took off their bras and burned them. To me this sounds more like a strippers act then a way of expressing your fight for equality

Quote of the day:
"The great god Ra whose shrine once covered acres/Is filler now for
crossword-puzzle makers" Keith Preston

Thought of the day:
I've always been into super-heroes and would love to have most superpowers,
but the power to read peoples minds is one I wouldn't want to have. Sure I can
see it being interesting and even profitable, but I can see a very dark side
to it. Would we really want to know what people honestly think? Maybe at times
it would be an ego boost but more likely the opposite. For the most part I
think I'm a pretty nice guy and yet I wonder if I'd have a friend left knowing
everything that they all thought. At the very least I'm sure it'd be very
humbling. Really even if you could handle knowing the thoughts of other, I'm
sure if
they found out, no one would want to be around you. I can think of nothing
more personal then our minds. Reading others would be like raping their soul.

12-06-04

Quote of the day:
"Another improvement...was that we buit our gas chambers to accommodate two
thousand people at one time" Rudolf Hess

Thought of the day:
Maybe today my thoughts are too personal to share or maybe I have nothing
worth saying. Is it sometimes better to say nothing? I'd imagine yes, but
realizing when those times are is the difficult part.

12-05-04

Quote of the day:
"A gentleman is a man who can disagree without being disagreeable" Anonymous

Thought of the day:
It can wound us greatly to be lied about, but it is often far worst when that
lie is true.

12-04-04

Quote of the day:
"A woman is the only thing I am afraid of that I know will not hurt me"
Abraham Lincoln

Thought of the day:
I had this beautiful dream once that filled me with such joy I could not
express. Perhaps like any dream it was just a lie. My mind trying to fool it's
self into finding peace with it's self. Then again maybe there is no peace in
having our dreams come true, for we need our dreams to live. Do we need
something
to hope for? What is life without hope? I don't honestly know. Despite all my
pessimism, I still have some hope. Be it "right or wrong, weak or strong," to
steal a line from Neil Diamond. So I guess I'm a junkie to my hopes and
dreams. A bit of a slave to even the slightest "fix" at times. Does that make me
a
pathetic fool or just human like everyone else? Perhaps the Stones had it
right, "you can't always get what you want, but if you try sometime..you get
what
you need." Then again they also sang, "lose your dreams and you will lose your
mind...ain't life unkind." Nothing against Keith or Mick, but maybe I
shouldn't make any life desisions based on their songs when it all come down to
it.
So now I'm beginning to think I should have ended this about four sentences
back, "shaa doo bee!"

Quote of the day:
"War is to men what maternity is to women" Mussolini

Thought of the day:
I hate the fact that the military has a Nascar. That is our tax dollars being
pissed away people! Why is it that the army can advertise and yet tobacco
companies can't? Pretty much any argument you could make about why tobacco
shouldn't be advertised can be made about the armed forces. I have to wonder if
we
need an army mostly because we have an army.

Quote of the day:
"The government of the United States is not in any sense founded upon the
Christian religion" - John Adams (1735-1826)

Thought of the day:
People have accused me of being a liar when I've presented the above quote.
Really I think people are too hung up on what our "founding fathers" intended
or wanted for this nation. There is often an out cry that this nation was
founded on Christianity, which I think the above quote puts into serious
question.
But really this nation was founded with a lot of hypocrisy and bullshit to
which I would hate to be used as a standard of what this nation should be.
Really
if you use the founding fathers as an ideal, then only white males of a
certain amount of wealth and social status should have any real rights. We have
evolved so much over the years and still have far to go. Honestly when I hear
people talk about how things have gone down hill morally, I just want to ask
when
were things better? Was there a week in 1979 that I missed?

Quote of the day:
"Alone! I'm all alone! I'm a lonely, insignificant speck on a has-been planet
orbited by a cold indifferent sun!" Homer Simpson - in an episode writen by
Ken Keeler

Thought of the day:
I imagine a large part of nature photography involves making sure the
animal's genitals aren't showing.
