Quote of the day:
"..suicide is our way of saying to God, You can't fire me. I quit." Bill Maher

Thought of the day:
Well, I just had something fucked up happen, I'm watching HBO2 and for like a minute it changed over from the movie Point of No Return to being some kinda Arabic station. It has a guy highlight papers in what looked like Arabic while there was what looked like Arabic scrolling across the screen. It looked like Al-Jazeria (pardon my spelling) that station they always show the Osoma tapes from. I E-mailed HBO about it, wonder what they'll say? Oh well on to my regular thought of the day...why is it I feel awkward saying "panties" but not "pantyhose"?

Quote of the day:
"Tell me not, in mournful numbers,Life is but an empty dream! For the soul is dead that slumbers,And things are not what they seem.Life is real! Life is earnest! And the grave is not its goal;Dust thou art; to dust returnest,Was not spoken of the soul."--Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, from A Psalm of Life, 1839

Thought of the day:
I would always ask my father jokingly what the meaning of life is. First he'd tell me that it's a cereal, no a game, no it's a magazine. At least something like that, but then he'd start resiting the poem above. Perhaps I'll find the meaning of life in those words someday

Quote of the day:
"A friend never gets in your way -- unless you happen to be on your way down." Anonymous

Thought of the day:
Well, I've tried to have a week of being positive with this or at least not being so negative. Not sure how well I did, but here I am at the weeks end. There's a lot going thru my head and honestly I don't know what to do. So offering something seems hard. Especially something positive. But one sappy simple truth rings true in my head and that is, I love you all. So that's how I'll end this week by telling you all that in some way large or small, you've all touched my heart. You've meant something in my life. I'm sure I've had my quarrels with pretty much all of you, but the good has always out weighed the bad. So when your caught between the Devil and the deep blue sea, be sure I'll be there to kick the Devil in the balls. And if you threw a party, invited everyone you knew. You would see the biggest gift would be from me and the card attached would say: Thank You for Being a Friend. OK, that last past I stole and used as a joke, but seriously you've been my friends, my family, perhaps some of you something more and I just want to thank you for it.

Thought of the day:
We are at times like horses lead to water by our destiny. Destiny knows neither good nor evil. So we must make our choices. For we may not aways control the stream we are lead to...the choice to drink from it is ours. Drink wisely.

Thought of the day:
I'm not sure how well this fits with my idea to be positive with my thoughts this week, but hopefully it will give you a laugh. So I'm tending bar tonight and this woman asked me why there are coat hangers on the ceiling. I explained how we used to have T-shirts for the bar up. But I was honestly this close to telling her it was the sign for my back room abortion clinic. Oh and next time your at Best Buy and they ask if you want a free copy of some magazine, just hang your head and tell them you can't read.

Thought of the day:
I enclosed with this a copy of a photo I took for a nature photography class. It's the best picture I think I ever took. So I thought rather than the usual thought of the day, I thought I'd share it with you. Besides, it's more beautiful then any words I could offer.

Quote of the day:
"Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly, and listen to others, even the dull and ignorant; they too have their story. Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love -- for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imagining. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labours and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all it's sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world." From the works of Max Ehrmann

Thought of the day:
Perhaps our hearts break so that we can give a piece of it away. Perhaps we have to make room in heart for another's love.

Dave I hold your quote of the day close to my heart. My mother gave me a pster with these words on it before I ventured out of her house on another adventure in life and love. Though things didn't work out the way I had planned on that particular adventure those words gave me faith to have hope in my next.

Thought of the day:
Well, it's Sunday the start of a new week and a new thought on my thoughts of the day. My thoughts have been blacker then the label of my Johnny Walker lately. So I've decided to challenge myself this week to offer positive thoughts this week. So it's gonna be rainbows, sunshine, lolli pops, puppy dogs, and pussy all this week.

Thought of the day:
Above is a note from an angel given to the Devil. I'm talking in metaphors here obviously, but what else is new. Really, I was handed this out of no where last night at a very bad point. It really struck me that someone I didn't even know would write me such a thing. I drove home today listening to the first Johnny Cash album I ever got, which ironically is also the latest album I've gotten as well,l since my brother lost my original copy. I listen to a song call "I see a darkness," it seems to perfectly fit me. I listened to it both on my way home and on my way back to the bar to get a silly little note. What the truth or the future is at this point I haven't a clue.

Quote of the day:

Thought of the day:
Ever wish you were dead? You must not have truly wished it or you'd be dead. It's not that difficult a wish to make a reality. In fact it's one wish you can count on coming true. It's been a bad day, in a shitty week, in a fucking wretched month. I think of the Beach Boys' song Don't Worry Baby. I'm not too big fan of theirs, but I think that song sums up what I want. That is, just someone to tell me not to worry at the end of the day.

Thought of the day:
No one will ever be the person you want them to be, including...and perhaps especially ourselves. Finding joy in the beauty of who people truly are is part of the key to our happiness. Finding beauty in who we truly are is part of the key to our peace. Odd as it may seem, it is often easier to except others for who they are then ourselves.

Quote of the day:
"In spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart." Anne Frank

Thought of the day:
I have to wonder if the death camps changed Anne's opinion at all? I have to wonder if people are good at heart? If I am? I watched some TV movie on her life once and laugh if you want but it made me cry a bit. While it was just a TV movie, it was also true how this poor girl suffered and died. I hate this world soo much sometimes. I think of that and how I see this world with such cynicism. Yet I'm not living in hiding from the Nazi's like this girl, who still saw good in people's hearts. Which of us has the foolish outlook on life?

Thanks to Ryan for doing the Quote/Thought of the day last month on the 14th

Thought of the day:
There's a line in the song Suite: Judy Blues Eyes that keeps going thru my head, "It's getting to the point where I'm no fun anymore...I am sorry." I'm not sure what to do, but then that seems to be my life. I've been living breathing misery lately and it feels like I'm only attracting more everyday. I've even considered stopping the thought of the day part of this for a while due to it. People tell me I need to smoke pot, my brother tells me I need a blow job. Johnnie Walker tells me I need to drink more. Honestly I think I don't want to be happy right now. So sorry if I'm no fun.

Quote of the day:
"Often the test of courage is not to die but to live." Conte Vittorio Alfieri

Thought of the day:
My sixth grade teacher everyday made us say "every day in every way I'm getting better and better." At the time I thought it was pretty dumb. Now it's about fifteen years later and I can't say I've changed my opinion. I think if anything I'm becoming worst and worst at an almost exponential rate.

Quote of the day:
"The body of a dead enemy always smells sweet." Aulus Vitellius

Thought of the day:
I've never felt "sexy" in my life. Maybe it just a male point of view here, but I think for better or worst, it's soo much easier for a woman to be sexy. I really don't even have clue as to what makes a man sexy. I know what's sexy about a woman and I think most women do too. I'm always surprised at the men women are into. Sean Connery is great example. Maybe none of the women who read this think he's sexy, but there are women who do. To me he looks like Santa Claus. Again this is just a man's point of view, but it seems like the more a woman shows of herself the sexier, but it doesn't seem to be true about men. At least not in general. Look at formal wear. A man wears a tux or suit while a woman wears a dress. The tux or suit covers a man's body, while a dress generally shows off a woman's body. I remember seeing a thong in the men's section and asked pretty much every woman I knew if they wanted to see any man in a thong and didn't get a single yes. Really I think Bill Maher put it best by making the point that for a man to have every woman in the room to want him he would have to be someone, while a woman would just have to do her hair.

Quote of the day:
"There is no greater sorrow than to recall, in misery, the time when we were happy." Dante Alighieri

Thought of the day:
It's said that the Devil was once angel, that Vader was once a Jedi. Speaking of Vader, I was watching Return of the Jedi, the other night and Luke is confronting Obi-Wan about the fact that he told him that Vader killed his father not that he was his father. Obi-Wan is trying to cover his ass by saying that when he became Vader the good man that was his father ceased to exist. I LIKED THAT IDEA! I'm left with this urge to destroy the "good man" that some have told me I am. I just wish I could grab the pathetic diluted fool by the throat and strangle the life from him. Yet he lives on and so do I.

Quote of the day:
"When there is evidence, no one speaks of faith. We do not speak of faith that two and two are four or that the earth is round. We only speak of faith when we wish to substitute emotion for evidence... We are told that faith could remove mountains, but no one believed it; we are now told that the atomic bomb can remove mountains, and everyone believes it." Bertrand Russell

Thought of the day:
Some days it feels like I'm a pickup shy of being a country song.

4-27-05

Quote of the day:
"Maybe other people aren't what they seem at all. Maybe this is all an elaborate setup, and really you were abducted by aliens a long time ago and have been strapped to a table in an alien prison for years with needles stuck in your brain, and they're making you imagine your whole life as some kind of twisted experiment. Don't let them do it. Fuck with the experiment. Go shoot some people in a mall." from the book: You Are Worthless

Thought of the day:
As most of you could guess and maybe some of you know, I'm circumcised. It's not something I give much thought to since it was done pretty much right after I was born. My mother says I screamed horribly. What a welcome to the world! I remember my cousin telling me what circumcision was when I was younger and I didn't believe it. It sounded insane. Why would they cut off part of your dick? Really I didn't know too much about circumcision, only that it has some basis in religion. Which always set off my spider-sense! So the other night I'm watching one of my favorite shows, Penn & Teller's Bull Shit! and the topic was circumcision. It was interesting and a bit infuriating. I even got to see it done. So after I watched this poor little bastard get cut, they show this woman talking about. She very nonchalantly shows how she straps the boys down and what not. Made me want to see her get circumcised without sedatives. Oh, yes there is female circumcision. They cut off the labia and clitoris. Oh and yes most of the time they don't sedate the child in any way when they do it to the new borns. One guy claimed that they use the skin for medical & cosmetic testing and other such things after they cut it off. So I don't want to hear shit about animal testing. Really there were a lot of weird facts, like how the guy who started Kellogg's cereal made a push for circumcision in order to curb masturbation. Foreskin is said to be as much there for a woman's pleasure as a man. It's kinda like a ribbed condom. So what to think all together on the issue I don't 100% know, I've heard arguments for it and I've heard them discounted. I do think it shouldn't be done to children and should be their choice. It's a man's body and a man's choice. Oddly enough they do say you can grown it back though if you want. Hmm... I have been wanting a new look.
