Quote of the day:
"Any man who hates dogs and babies can't be all bad." Leo Rosten
Thought of the day:
So is an engagement ring just another kind of prostitution? It's not the same as simply being a lovers gift. It's seems to be a "payment" that is required of a man to get a woman for life. I'm sure feminists had the same thought but unlike a demand for equal pay for equal work this issue seems to have been dropped. Maybe it's because it's to a woman benefit? Really as far as I can tell marriage seems like it's more to a woman's benefit. I only say this because pretty much every man I've met has advised me not to get married. (yeah, like there's a line outside the door, eh!) While on the other hand, I don't really see this from woman. Then I'm not a woman, who knows what they tell each other. I have theories, but they are prejudiced by my bitterness and probably farfetched. Women will ask me when I'm getting married though. To be fair a few have told me not to settle down just yet. Because you know I'm running wild.
Amanda Jane says: If you look into the centiment behind the tradition it will actually make sense. It's just like how the bride is supposed to wear a white dress to symbolize here being a virgin. How many brides do you know that are pure upon reading their vows? Not many I'm sure, but they still where the big white dress. Here's to tradition and symbolism.
