Thought of the day:
On January 22, 1987, Pennsylvania State Treasurer Bud Dwyer held a press during which he pull out a . 357 magnum and shot himself in the head, I was 9 years old. I always remembered his name and the incident. There were many jokes at the time, like how his wife told him to "don't go shooting your mouth off" and that his toothpaste was Aim. He came to mind the other night so for some reason so I did a search on the Internet on him. I found lots of interesting things. His suicide inspired the Filter song "Hey man, Nice Shot" and even an art exhibit on violent images. I also found a site with jokes, one with footage of his death, and even one planning on having a Bud Dywer day on the 22nd. I really don't know much about him except that he was convicted of charges and held that he was innocent, but I do know that his death will always be a part of my childhood. Which I guess explains a lot about me.
Quote of the day:
"Those of you who are putting your cameras away ... ought to stay because we're not finished yet." Bud Dwyer
Amanda Jane says; I remember the first time I saw that footage, I was about thirteen. It was on one of those "Faces of Death" movies. It was by far the most horrific thing that I have ever seen. I could not imagine seeing it live on t.v. and yes Dave I do suppose that would explain some things about you.
